Class resources such as handouts and schedules may be found here, but don't overlook www.meritbadge.com for workbooks and other materials.  You will need to have one of the free Adobe readers (Adobe, Foxit, etc) to open PDF files.
For the Last Class on March 16th:

- Look at the warrant and the starter questions.  Think about whether you will vote Yes or No on the article.  If you have questions, be prepared to ask them during Town Meeting.

For Fifth Class:

- Study the text of the proposed article to see what changes you would like to see.  A draft warrant will be available by class time.

For Fourth Class:

- There is a requirement that you attend a meeting and be able to discuss an issue that you heard about at that meeting.  Below is a link to a YouTube video in which a candidate for School Committee is presenting to the Planning Board one of his ideas about Town finances.  He is speaking to the Planning Board, the body which deals with subdivisions and other planning issues.  They do not, however, deal with the issues surrounding the building of single replacement homes nor do they deal with many commercial issues.

Keep in mind that this is not the whole presentation.  Planning Board meetings tend to be lengthy and much is said.

But look at the video, combine it with knowledge from other sources, and be prepared to discuss the issue when we meet next.  Try not to react on a personal basis.  Listen to the arguments put forth by the speakers and then decide which way you would vote.  You will have to guess just a little bit about the context of the meeting--what was being discussed before the comments were made.

Click here to see the video.  Make sure your parents are aware of what you are doing.

Also for the fourth class, read over the possible articles and be prepared to make a decision on your favorite.  Then we will choose one article and Mr. Cohen will help you craft it into a legal article.  #9 dealing with invasive species seems to be a popular choice so far.

For Third Class:

- Read the list of suggestions about laws from the last meeting.  They are posted above in two forms--as a JPEG and as a PDF.  Think about what law or regulation or other warrant article you would like to see enacted by the Town on Lexingtonia.  If you like one of the suggestions on the sheet above, then try to add whatever you think it might need to turn it into a real warrant article.

For SecondClass:

- Read the guide posted above
- Know who your federal Senators and Congressman are
- Know who the governor is
- Who is Jay Kaufman and why does he come to our Eagle ceremonies?
- Who is the Town Manager
- How much are Lexington Selectmen paid?
- How many members are there on the School Committee?
- Find out what Lexington precinct you are in, be able to name one Town Meeting Member
from that precinct, and try to find out how you would contact them.
- Come prepared to suggest a law, ordinance, or regulation you would like to see enacted
  in Lexingtonia.THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!!!
